Arnold the Pitbull Small Practice by darkmane Arnold the Pitbull Small Practice by darkmane
I was going through some of my sketches and came across this one. I drew this about a month ago but it got buried under some other drawings. It is a small practice of how Arnold's face would look more in my own style. The one on the right is done with reference. A full body drawing will come later on. It is a practice for K-9 Agency, as Arnold is a shoe in to be in my comic.

Hope you enjoyed this! And this character needed more episodes. He was one if the coolest Tiny Toons.

Totally, he was the reason I watched it, and I was sad he had such few appearances. He just oozes character. Nice sketches, btw. I like the cool, laid-back one and the ashamed one.

The best characters are rarely shown, its a sad truth most of the time. And thanks, glad you like the sketches. Not sure if you are interested in my K-9 Agency comic at all, but Arnold will get a lot more screen time through my fanart and stories of him in the comic.

Its no problem, I like drawing obscure and under appreciated characters and some people might understand that.

No problem. I like your drawing style. And I've always appreciated Arnold despite what few appearances he's had.

Every dog, even a huge, macho muscledog, has an "oops" face. :XD:

LOL, its always great to see the different expressions or sides of someone. It makes a character or person more interesting I think.

Yeah, I remember his face getting like that in "Lifestyles of the Rich & Rotten." Wish there had been more episodes where he could have been a protagonist, or antagonist turned protagonist like "Bleacher Bummer."

Thats right, thats the one I referenced for that expression. I also wish Arnold was given more episodes and one as a protagonist. He doesn't have much plot armor when put up against Babs and Buster. It even seemed like he wasn't as strong as he should have been.

Yeah, nobody had plot armor against Bugs, Buster or Babs. :-P

Please tell me he will have at least some kind of full-time pants / shorts in the crossover, though. As much as I like shirtless musclehead Arnold, when he didn't wear his speedo he looked kind of creepy and genderless. :O

Thats true, lol.

And of course, I know exactly what you mean. Usually when I redesign a character, I always add proper attire. Most likely he will be a cop and have that uniform, but other than that he will wear regular clothes. Plus you know I don't like the huge upper body, chicken leg syndrome, so since his legs will be like an anthro now, without clothes it would look even more creepy. Like the other characters, he will have many different things to wear throughout the comic.

LOL That's very comforting! Look forward to seeing your full-body pic of him to see what you do with his legs (and chest, abs, etc. :P ;)). :)

A real cop and not just a rent-a-cop security guard? Will he still own a gym / be a fitness trainer on the side? :-)

Heh, well I hope you enjoy the design once I can put it on here. Hopefully by tomorrow night. So much stuff comes up unexpected that takes all my time. And he will be the real deal cop, and he will always own a gym lol.

Definitely, I plan to do them all eventually, just like with the Looney Tunes. I am trying to draw and upload more often, so hopefully I'll have more soon.

Glad you think so! I believe he is doubtful and a bit fearful in that one, because he kept on failing Montana Max.

You did an awesome job here, really capture different expressions here. His blank sunglassses face, his "oppsie" face, and his "nice guy" face.

I'm a Simpsons fan, so whenever I see a dog with sunglasses, I think of Poochie XD. But who do you think has the coolest shades? I have to Kamina from Gurren Lagann.

How will you protray him in the comic? A jerky-good guy (like a cop dog or something) or a jerky bad guy (basically a bully)?
Reply
:icondarkmane:

I am still undecided....but a jerky cop seems to be a good fit for him. Plus if Arnold was always into it with Bonkers and Mean Old Wolf, it would be interesting.

Plus it would be hilarious if he is with the old Bushel Britches, the health-nut overzealous cop with the out-of shape laid back cop.
